On Sat 21st Dec 2019 from 11:00

There is a coaching and training session on Saturday 21st December at Ecclesall Woods.  The intricately mapped vegetation detail will provide significant technical challenge for experienced orienteers, while the good path network caters for beginners and young juniors. Sessions are suitable for all ages and abilities,

The session will run from 11am - 12.30pm. Please meet at 10.50am on Whirlowdale Road, S7 2NG.

If you would like to attend please This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by 5pm Thursday 19th December so that we can ensure we have enough coaches available to comply with safety rations and have enough maps available.

Parents who wish to accompany their children on the activities are encouraged or alternatively are very welcome to join the adult's group and have a go themselves. Children under 8 and those who aren't yet able to complete a white course on their own must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Please remember that you tend to go slower when training so wear plenty of layers and full leg cover and bring a water bottle, waterproofs and gloves.

Cost is £3 per session to non-members, free to club members.

Venue Details

Ecclesall Woods comprises over 100 hectares (300 acres) of mature deciduous woodland of variable runnability and is notable for a large number of thickets. The gently sloping land is divided by two roads and a network of bridleways, footpaths, streams and ditches. Some of the minor paths have become overgrown or are difficult to discern when covered by autumn leaves.

Safety & risk

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. If a competitor has a pre-existing medical condition that they think should be declared, please complete a medical form at enquiries. The sealed envelope will only be opened in an emergency.
