Try out your urban orienteering skills in the intricate housng estates surrounding the Ponderosa. There are a choice of 4 different courses catering to all ages and abilities. There is a course for younger juniors that remains in the park. Newcomers are very welcome - just turn up on the night.
Parking on residential roads surrounding the Ponderosa, The nearest road to registration is Martin St - nearest postcode S6 3DT.
Yellow - 1.7km Technically easy. Suitable for younger juniors. Remains within the park.
Light green - 2.7km, 100m climb (optimum route 3.3km) Suitable for juniors aged 11+ and adults. Crosses minor roads.
Green - 4.2km, 135m climb (optimum route 5.2km)Technically challenging. No under 16s due to road crossings.
Blue - 5.4km, 200m climb (optimum route 7.2km) Technically challenging. No under 16s due to road crossings.

Pairs, family groups just pay for 1 entry. Extra maps £1.
Registration: 17.45 - 18.45
Start Times 18.00 - 19.00
Courses Close at 20.00 promptly.
SportIdent Punching will be used.

Please treat local residents with courtesy and be very careful when running round corners in the alleys.

Ponderosa is a smallish area of parkland across the road from Crookes Valley Park. The shortest courses will normally stay within the parkland, but the surrounding area includes interesting estates with intricate alleys and inner city parkland, which provides an excellent urban orienteering challenge.More details about Ponderosa...
Safety & risk
A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. If a competitor has a pre-existing medical condition that they think should be declared, please complete a medical form at enquiries. The sealed envelope will only be opened in an emergency.
