Club Training & Coaching
A Club Training event at Canklow Woods
On Sun 25th Nov 2018 from 13:00
There is a coaching and training session on Sunday 25th November at Canklow Woods near Rotherham. Experienced orienteers will enjoyable the runnable terrain and interesting contour detail while newcomers and younger juniors are well catered for with the extensive path network. Sessions are suitable for all ages and abilities.
Please meet in the small car park at the end of Boston Castle Grove (nearest postcode S60 2BD)
The sessions will run from 1pm to 2.30pm. Please arrive by 12.50pm so we can start promptly at 1pm. Parents who wish to accompany their children on the activities are encouraged or alternatively are very welcome to join the adult's group and have a go themselves. Children under 8 and those who can’t complete a white course on their own must be accompanied by an adult at all times. All participants should wear full leg cover and sturdy footwear and should bring a water bottle.
Cost is £3 per session to non-members, free to club members.
Canklow Woods is a sloping area with a mixture of deciduous woodland, open and semi-open. All along the top of the slope are the remains of stone workings which provide good contour detail. The area is criss-crossed by a complex path network.
It is on the edge of Rotherham and very accessible, with the southern boundary of the area being less than a kilometre from junction 33 on the M1.
