Club Training & Coaching
A Club Training event at Wombwell Woods
On Sat 20th Oct 2018 from 14:00
There is a coaching and training session on Saturday 20th October at Wombwell Woods near Barnsley. Experienced orienteers will enjoyable the runnable terrain and interesting contour detail while newcomers and younger juniors are well catered for with the extensive path network. Sessions are suitable for all ages and abilities.
Please meet in the small car park on the right of Woodhead Lane (nearest postcode S74 9SZ - don't turn down the 1st turning after the roundbaout to the residential house).
The sessions will run from 2pm to 3.30pm. Parents who wish to accompany their children on the activities are encouraged or alternatively are very welcome to join the adult's group and have a go themselves. Children under 8 and those who can’t complete a white course on their own must be accompanied by an adult at all times. All participants should wear full leg cover and sturdy footwear and should bring a water bottle.
Cost is £3 per session to non-members, free to club members.
As a thank you for permission to use the area, we have agreed to perform a litter pick. If you are able to pick litter for 20-30 minutes please arrive at 1.15pm with gardening gloves - we will provide rubbish sacks!
Runnable woodland with good path network. This is a great orienteering area at any time of year, as the area of difficult vegetation is minimal. New route for HS2 may mean it should stay intact!
