A Local event at Ecclesall Woods

The 2018 club champs will be held on the morning of Saturday 8th December at Ecclesall Woods. This will be followed by a lunch Curry Buffet at the HSBC Sports and Social Club. Lunch will be followed by a short annual meeting and the annual awards presentation.
The orienteering is a mass start event with butterfly loops (you visit the same controls but run them in a different order to other people on your course). The SYO Club Champions will be determined by Peter Gorvett's handicapping system!
Please enter a course, appropriate to your abilities, that you would expect to complete in 60 minutes or less. Courses 2-4 are as hard as the planner can make them in Ecclesall Woods
Course 1 - 3.5km Orange/Light Green standard
Course 2 - 3.5km
Course 3 - 4.5km
Course 4 - 6.6km
There will also be a normal Yellow course for younger juniors (arrangements can be made for parents wishing to shadow children)
Lunch, AGM & Awards
A delicious curry buffet will be held afer the orienteering at the HSBC Sports & Social club on Hathersage Rd near to Ecclesall Woods. Lunch will be followed by a very short AGM and we will finish with the 2018 SYO Awards which recognise the top performances, best orienteering improvements and volunteering efforts of our members.
Orienteering only - Adults £2, Juniors/Students £1
Meal only - Adult & Junior curry £8, Junior finger food buffet (5-12 years) £5, Junior buffet (under 5) Free
Orienteering and Meal - Adult curry £10, Junior curry £9, Junior buffet (5-12 years) £6

Ecclesall Woods comprises over 100 hectares (300 acres) of mature deciduous woodland of variable runnability and is notable for a large number of thickets. The gently sloping land is divided by two roads and a network of bridleways, footpaths, streams and ditches. Safety & risk
A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. If a competitor has a pre-existing medical condition that they think should be declared, please complete a medical form at enquiries. The sealed envelope will only be opened in an emergency.
SYO has an agreed policy on the taking of photographs at events, based on national guidance.
