Apologies to the older vets classes who missed out on the chasing chart in the final. It is clear we needed to extend the chasing start - see comments below. We will know for next time!

Thank you all for coming to the sprints, I hope you enjoyed the confusion around the estates.
There were a number of comments about the length of the courses for the Ultra vets .The lengths were about right , but the climb slowed most of us down. On the other hand how many people would have entered a 1.1km sprint? Next weekend you have either 2.4 or 2km per race, which is measured IOF( optimal) rather than BO( straight line)...odd at the BO champs, I think this may be the correct standard. We were trying to simplify the planning and organisation, but cutting down to fewer courses was an error. I hope some of you enjoyed your value for money and the direct comparison with the young!
....and the lack of chasing for their finals. I can only apologise for this, it was my decision to make the cut off 30mins, expecting winning times between 10 and 15 minutes.... obviously if the men’s open didn’t make this then the ultra vets were going to take longer. I compounded this by not having enough time to change this between the races and as some may have noticed not actually having a start list until the juniors had already set off( thanks to them for showing the gumption to know their start times and being prepared to just go for it without a complaint). Sorry, I will not put a cut off in, if I get the joy of being the only person ‘volunteering’ to organise this event again next year.
Thanks to Ryan for the excellent- why am I the wrong side of this wall/fence/building again- courses. Certainly challenging and made my head spin. I especially loved the slide to number 2 on the women’s course, who could fail to smile and wheeee at that. Thanks to Clive who not only controlled but ended up putting out nearly all the controls. Thanks to the helpers, the reliable few who stepped forward beforehand and those who stepped up to the mark on the day, it wouldn’t have run without you.
A two-part sprint event with prologue and final. Everyone welcome, but might be particularly useful for those attending the British Sprint Championships a week later.
Expect short courses with lots of controls, with winning times under 15 minutes. Sprint orienteering success is often more about quick decisions than super-fast running; it's "sprint for the mind".

Ponderosa is a smallish area of parkland across the road from Crookes Valley Park. The shortest courses will normally stay within the parkland, but the surrounding area includes interesting estates with intricate alleys and inner city parkland, which provides an excellent urban orienteering challenge.More details about Ponderosa...
Safety & risk
A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. If a competitor has a pre-existing medical condition that they think should be declared, please complete a medical form at enquiries. The sealed envelope will only be opened in an emergency.
