This is a 30 minute score event. You will receive a map with a number of locations to find. If you find them you will see a red and white banner. You are allowed to find them in any order. You prove that you have found them by swiping an electronic card which you will be given at the start into a black box which you will find adjacent to the banner. You will have 30 minutes to find as many as you can but you will be penalised if you take longer than 30 mins. It should be good fun with a mass start at 11.30am.
Forge Dam forms one of several ponds created along the Porter Valley to feed metal-working mills. The Porter Valley is wooded along all of its length west from Hunters Bar (Bingham Park) to Ringinglow. The Forge Dam map includes Forge Dam Park and surrounding woodland, which was planted for the 1951 Festival of Britain.
The Forge Dam map includes Whiteley Woods, a larger area of woods which is also on some versions of the Bingham Park map. This part also includes an area of overgrown allotments, some of which are now mature woodland. There is some contour detail and the ruined walls, hedges and bulding bases add interest.More details about Forge Dam...
