Unfortunately we have been refused permission by Sheffield City Council to have controls out at this week’s Temporary Orienteering Course at Bowden Housteads. Although we are following the guidance issued by British Orienteering, there was some confusion at the council as to whether we were trying to run an event and they have referred the decision to Public Health, which will take some time.
This information only reached us after the controls had been put out so we will be collecting the controls in. We do have permission to run the courses without controls so you can still go and orienteer at Bowden this weekend.
I have been in touch with British Orienteering and they have confirmed that our temporary courses do meet government guidelines. They are writing a supporting letter for us to send to the council. Hopefully this will ensure we have permission for controls at our future TOCs.
