SYO update - Lockdown week 7
SYO circuits continue each Thursday at 7pm. Click here for the link and use passcode 1968. The sessions are suitable for all. We did look at moving this earlier but as some of our key workers needed it to stay at 7pm, we are leaving the session where it is.
There is also a junior circuit session lasting approx. 40 mins every Monday. Click here for the link and enter passcode 572194. It's now at a later time of 6pm to avoid on-line lessons.
Both sessions are designed specifically to develop the core strength of runners.
Lockdown Orienteering - Team Competition
From Sunday 17th to Sunday 24th May the Lockdown Orienteering team are organising a team orienteering competition. More info here. Each day you complete a different challenge completing 7 in total over the week. Each team member does each stage and then your scores are combined. You do not need Catching Features to take part in the team competition.
There are 2 competitions - a junior class for M/W16s and below and an open class for everyone else. The junior team is made up of 5 competitors, while the open team comprises 7 members. SYO are hoping to enter teams in both categories - you do not need to be an experienced orienteer to take part!
The cost is £3 for M/W16 and under and £5 for open entries. Please email Pauline if you would like to take part by Tuesday 12th May.
SYO discount code for Catching Features
Catching Features is an on-line orienteering computer game. Like in real life you use a map to navigate your way to control points with the aim of completing the course in the quickest time possible. Lots of top orienteers use it as a training tool to compliment the physical and technical training they do outdoors. More info here.
SYO have negotiated a 40% discount for members off the normal price of $40. You get 4 log ins per license so the whole family can join in! Click order on-line on the Catching Features website and enter code SYO2020. It is valid until the 31st May. You can have a go at any of the competitions on the website.
Martin has created Catching Features maps and planned courses for Ecclesall and Canklow. We will be adding other SYO areas and we will let you know how to access these shortly. We also have plans for an intra-club competition - watch this space!
