Training, Burbage, Adults Circuits & the CSC!
A few things to be aware of this week.......
There is a training session on Saturday 29th February 11am-12.30pm on Blacka Moor. Details available here:
As we are using the same controls as the English Uni Relays, this Training session will take a different format to normal coaching and will be more self-led with longer loops. Some loops are planned to orange / light green technical difficulty while others are as difficult as we can make them, including a challenging long legs course. SI timing will be used so bring your dibbers. There will be some available to borrow for those that don't have their own.
The session is suitable for adult beginners / improvers but all juniors going out alone must be confident on orange courses. Juniors below orange standard can attend with an accompanying parent but should note that the easiest loop is of orange standard.
The session will run from 11am - 12.30pm, though you can come for less time if you like. Please meet at the start triangle on the map at 11am - What3words: remedy.gained.cats
Please allow at least 20 minutes to walk from the car parks. You have a choice: the top car park is just before the junction of Hathersage Rd and Stony Ridge Rd and the bottom car park is at the end of Strawberry Lee Lane. Both are quite small but it is probably easier to park on Stony Ridge Rd if the car park is full than find a space down at the bottom.
Pre booking is essential. Please email me by 5pm Thursday 27th February so that we can ensure we have enough maps available.
Please wear plenty of layers and full leg cover and bring a water bottle, waterproofs and gloves. Cost is £3 per session to non-members, free to club members.
CSC – Last call for entries
The Compass Sport Cup is the main orienteering inter-club competition encompassing all orienteering clubs throughout the UK. It takes the form of a heat and a final. SYO will be competing in the heat, near Huddersfield, on Sunday 15th March.
Different age classes are assigned different colour courses. The easiest junior course included in the competition is an orange for M/W14s and under. Alongside the competition there are normally yellow, white and light green courses available which you can enter on the day if you are not able to run your competition course. If you have any questions about whether you think it's suitable for you / your family let me know.
So far we have a team of 84 attending the CSC, which is a fabulous turn out. This is the final call for anyone who has forgotten to sign up. SYO will subsidise entry fees to the tune of £5 for adults & £3 for juniors. Please complete the google form by Wed 26th Feb.
