Entries for CSC, JK Relays & British Relays
Just a quick reminder that entries for the Compass Sport Cup Heat and the JK & British Relays are made via the club. Many thanks to those who have already entered but we still need more entries to get the best possible team out particularly for the CSC as we are in a very competitive heat. Remember SYO subsidise relay and CSC entry fees – see details below.
Please complete the google entry form specifying which events you would like to enter. The deadline for completing the form is Sunday 16th February but earlier entry much appreciated.
1 CSC qualifier - 15th March, Fixby & Bradley, near Huddersfield (see next section for how to enter)
The Compass Sport Cup is the main orienteering inter-club competition encompassing all orienteering clubs throughout the UK. It takes the form of a heat and a final. SYO will be competing in the heat, near Huddersfield, on Sunday 15th March.
We need as many members as possible to take part to ensure we qualify for the final so we can try and win back the trophy! Even if you don't score points for the club, your result helps push down the score of others. SYO will subsidise entry fees to the tune of £5 for adults & £3 for juniors.
Different age classes are assigned different colour courses. The easiest junior course included in the competition is an orange for M/W14s and under. Alongside the competition there are normally yellow, white and light green courses available which you can enter on the day if you are not able to run your competition course. If you have any questions about whether you think it's suitable for you / your family email Pauline
The British Long Distance and Relay Champs are being held on a brand new area to orienteering near Farnham in Hampshire. Details of the weekend can be found here.
Don't let the "long" put you off, there are short courses for all adult age classes and B courses for all junior classes. There are also white, yellow and orange courses if you don't want to compete in your age class. Club members are responsible for their own entries to the individual day. The closing date is 23rd Feb.
The relays are subsidised by the club - £10 discount from the entry fees for adults and £5 for juniors. SYO always enter a large number of teams ranging from the highly competitive to those that have a more relaxed approach. Juniors can take part as long as they can complete a yellow course, while the easiest course for adults is an orange. See next section for entry details.
- JK 10th -13th April, Whitby. Details here.
The JK is the biggest annual competition in the UK and takes place over Easter. The weekend begins with a sprint race, followed by a middle and then a long. The relays take place on the last day. Like at the British, members are responsible for their own entries to the individual day. The next closing date is 23rd Feb.
Again, like at the British, the relay entries are made and subsidised by the club.
