Botanical Gardens & Burbage
The lovely weather is set to continue tomorrow before storm Ciara arrives with a vengeance on Sunday! Best get out on Saturday and enjoy some orienteering!
Saturday Series 5 - Botanical Gardens - 8th Feb 12.30-14.30
Alongside the normal white to light green courses, there are green and blue courses for adults that extend to Hallam Collegiate Campus, providing a good opportunity to try out your urban orienteering skills! More details here.
If anyone is willing to hang or collect controls, please let me know as I'm sure planner Rob (who has just had a baby boy!!) will really appreciate it!
Burbage Mines Night Event – Wed 12th Feb 17.45-18.45
Our night event at Burbage Mines offers micro orienteering in a small, complex area of old mine workings. Alongside the courses for experienced orienteers, there is a course for newcomers. Juniors very welcome but those who are not confident on light green should be shadowed. More details here.
Choice of 4 courses:
Ochre - technical difficulty medium - 1.4km. Estimated Winning time - 15-20 mins
Jade - technically hard - 1.5km. Estimated Winning time - 15-20 mins
Navy - technically difficult - 2.3km. Estimated Winning time - 25-30 mins
Black - technically difficult - 3.5km. Estimated Winning time - 25-30 mins
Although courses seem short, they will probably take longer than you think as these are straight line distances through terrain. Headtorch & whistle are essential and a waterproof highly recommended.
You must reserve your map – please email me by 5pm Tuesday 11th Feb. If you have pre-paid for club night, entry is free, otherwise £4 adult members, £3 juniors / students.
Afterwards, there is a social at the Norfolk Arms. Let me know if you're planning to eat.
