SYO’s new club night starts on Wednesday 7th June from 6.45-8.15pm and will run for 6 weeks at different outdoor locations
If you are intending to come please can you email me indicating which sessions you are likely to attend so we can make sure we print enough maps. Don’t worry if you suddenly have a change of plans at the last minute – a rough indication is all we need.
Each session will contain a mix of physical and technical training. See the details below for the weekly focus and meeting point.
Wed 7th June - Endcliffe Park – meet outside the café.
Focus - The warmup and drills, parkour orienteering & tree sprints.
Wed 14th June - Ecclesall Woods – meet halfway down Whirlowdale Rd.
Focus - Know your running zones, route choice and leg memory
Wed 21st June - Bingham Park – meet by the tennis courts
Focus - Down and uphill running technique, compass shapes, diagonal legs & contouring.
Wed 28th June - Edge Campus (Endliffe Student village) – meet at the car park at the end of Endcliffe Avenue
Focus - Sprint running technique - cornering, stairs & acceleration/deceleration, understanding control descriptions, relays
Wed 5th July - Whirlowbrook Hall – meet in the bottom car park.
Focus - Strength & power, visualisation, trail O
Wed 12th July – Millhouses – meet in the northern car park by Archer’s Rd
Focus – Relay week – maze, clock, odds & evens; followed by a social.
The sessions are suitable for all abilities and will be differentiated so that you can train at the right physical and technical level. Two groups will operate - juniors aged 8-11 and juniors 12 & over / adults.
The cost is £3 (£8 - families) per session if you pay on the night. You will receive a 25% discount for payment in advance. The price for 6 weeks is £13.50 per person or £36 for a family. Please pay by Tuesday 6th June to the SYO bank account to take advantage of he discount. Details below:
