Forthcoming Events & Helper Requests
A quick email to let you know what’s going on as there’s a busy couple of weeks ahead of us.......it would be fab to see as many members as possible out orienteering.
Graves Park – Sat 20th May 1-3pm (12.30-2.30pm for LG & up)
This is the last event in the schools league. As there is no other orienteering on in Yorkshire this weekend, we are putting on the full range of colour coded courses from white to brown including a very short green. There is a lovely café, playground and an animal farm as well! We are expecting it to be busy so please email Pauline if you can help. More details here.
Club Training & Coaching, Hesley Woods – Sun 21st May
A variety of exercises have been planned to cater for young juniors right through to experienced club members.
Group 1 will be learning how to orientate their maps, make route decisions between controls and recognise & find features just off the path.
Group 2 will be focusing on leg memory, visualising contour point features, attack points and compass bearings
Group 3 & 4 will practise compass & pacing and contour appreciation and there is also a 2.2k sprint course to enjoy! Training can be self-led if you don’t fancy joining a group.
World Orienteering Day, Bolehills – Wed 24th May 5-7pm
Come along and celebrate WOD. There are white & yellow courses in the park for the juniors and a light green suitable for the more experienced juniors and improver adults. For the experienced, there’s a 60 minute urban & park score. Afterwards there is a club social in the Punchbowl. Please email Ian Cooper if you can help for a short while. More details here.
