WOD Event Report
SYO celebrated World Orienteering day on Loxley Common in gorgeous sunshine. There were a choice of 5 courses (yellow, orange, short green, green and a 6.7km blue) which attracted a wide range of participants from complete newcomers to British Orienteering squad members and even Peter Hart, Chief Executive of British Orienteering, who successfully completed the short green course.
Colin Drury planned some great courses which people really enjoyed, although many found the vegetation (which had gone ballistic in the last couple of weeks prior to the event) a challenge! In Colin's absence on the day, we had a team of control hangers & collectors - thank you Emily, Alice, Euan, Imogen, Pete T, Simon H, Ricky & Colin L. Many hands make light work and it meant I made it to the Admiral Nelson in time for last food orders.
Facebook is increasingly being used as a marketing and advertising tool and SYO are keen to use it for publicising events. We also regularly report on events and celebrate members' achievements. Please like our page and join the SYO group. The more likes we get on our posts, the more people see our page, so please try to engage regularly.
