10 of these events are organised across the UK each year and provide the premiere competitions of the fixtures calendar. At least one will usually be in the YHOA region. A range of age and gender related courses are provided and pre-entry via a standard or special entry form is required. Details are available on the BOF website fixtures page. Cost of entry is usually around £10 or more for adult competitors - lower for juniors. A limited range of Colour coded courses may be offered on the day. |

Entry on the day (EOD) with a range of colour coded courses which range in length and technical difficulty, to suit all ages and abilities. Courses range from White (usually about 1km with very simple navigational challenges) through Yellow, Orange, Red, Light Green, Green, Blue to Brown (which is typically around 8km and is physically and navigationally challenging) These events usually cost around £4 for adult competitors with start times normally from 10.30 - 12.30am |

Night
Night events take place during the Winter months usually on Saturday evenings with start times spaced out over two hours shortly after nightfall. A restricted range of courses (usually Short, Medium and Long) are available to test the orienteers' navigational abilities in limited visibility conditions. Each club usually hosts one Night event each year which can be entered on the day. |
